QBoy (b. Marcos Brito on 10 October 1978 in Basildon, Essex) is a UK-based rapper, DJ, writer and presenter. One of only a few openly gay rappers in hip-hop, he is part of the new sub-genre colloquially known as "homo hop".

Yikes… colloquialism, or not, they really need to revisit the drawing board with that term.

Be advised, the choice is yours.

Not too shabby for a slogan. :)

The men’s and women’s rugby union teams at Swarthmore College engage in a streaking fundraiser each semester known as the “Dash for Cash”, in which the team members run naked through Parrish Hall, the main administration building. Spectators are expected to bring money, which the streakers grab from their hands as they run by. The activity has been known to catch bystanders unawares, despite heavy publicity featuring the slogan, “Bring money, or you’re a pervert.”

Title track from K Records EP. I like this song a lot, but the "Lunar Camel" cover is perhaps my favorite.

Web Engineers Desperately Needed. Pays quite well and TRAVEL.

Date: 2008-01-28, 11:27PM EST
Greetings, Website Engineers!

I’m Sweet Marco. My Caribbean Gay Lifestyle Association is looking for two or three good, understanding web developers ASAP. I need a lifestyle website and NOT a porn site.

Travel may be involved (or work from home- we’re flexible) but we pay for everything and the accommodations are 1st class. See the world and make a few bucks :-)

Pay will work out to approx. $300-$550 per day and we have many friends who need sites, so employment can be permanent or temporary. Call me, “Sweet Marco” to set up an interview and talk details.

Call us at Roatan Sales and Rentals (Google us), our “straight” business. Ask for “Feya Delzie” or “Sweet Marco.”

e-mail: djackson@metro-red.hn Please put "attn: Sweet Marco" in subject.

Thank you and PEACE!

Jackie, Jackie 12" with Junior Boys remix

clipped from blog.myspace.com

Hi friends,

The "Jackie Jackie" 12" will finally be released on February 22nd (April in USA/Can) on the German label Permanent Vacation. It includes a remix by Junior Boys!

A1 Jackie Jackie (Spend This Winter With Me)
A2 Skating in the Moonshine
B1 Jackie Junior (Junior Boys Dub)

B2 Jackie Jackie (Dyylan's Subzero Nocturne)

The Junior Boys remix will also be included on our forthcoming remix album "Remix Romance", out in April on Paper Bag Records. "Remix Romance" will contain one remix of each song on the Paper Bag release of "Disco Romance", and will be released on CD in North America only, but the mp3 release will be available on iTunes worldwide, and of course you can still order it from USA/Can if you live somewhere else. Tracklist to be announced later, but it includes a remix by Lindstrom among others.

…and as you can see on the tour dates, we are going on a short DJ tour to North America!

Inefficiencies in Initialisms

It's a shame (but no surprise) that English speakers in the United States can't arrive at some concurrence on a better way to verbalize "www" than by speaking out each letter. I am personally a fan of "tri-dub" or "three dub" or "triple w", or even something more daringly imaginative, like "prefix web". Perhaps I'll just pick one and start using it… and maybe, just maybe, people will come around.

Pronunciation of "www"

www is an initialism for World Wide Web, most often styled in lowercase because it appears as the first component of domain names. In English, WWW is actually the longest possible three-letter acronym to spell out, requiring nine syllables, whereas the twelve letters in "World Wide Web" are pronounced with only three syllables. The late Douglas Adams once quipped:

The World Wide Web is the only thing I know of whose shortened form takes three times longer to say than what it's short for.

It's Rather Like Bombing Murder

Why Grammar is the First Casualty of War
by Terry Jones

WHAT really alarms me about President Bush's "war on terrorism" is the grammar. How do you wage war on an abstract noun? It's rather like bombing murder.

Imagine if Bush had said: "We're going to bomb murder wherever it lurks. We are going to seek out the murderers and the would-be murderers, and bomb any government that harbors murderers."
