What is the Songdiary Project?

I began the Songdiary as a personal project in 1991. The idea has remained simple: to keep a written record every week of any songs that stood out in a significant way. That's about it.

What constitutes significance ?

That's up to me to decide! So as not to dodge the question, I'll list a few very broad examples. It would be extremely uncommon for a song to appear that did not fall into one of these three categories.

To avoid redundancy, just add "Something I like that" to the beginning, and "during the week in question" to the end of each of the following:

• I just discovered
• symbolizes an event that occurred
• exemplifies a particular emotion, or my overall mood

If a song has appeared once, will it ever appear again?

No. There are a few rules I try to follow very strictly, and that is one of them. Songs will never repeat.

What are the other rules?

Right now I can only think of one other rule, and that is: an artist cannot appear more than once in the same week. If I happen to think of any others, I'll be sure to post an update here. :)
